Quote of the Day
“The difference between a boss and a leader: a boss says ‘Go!’ – a leader says, ‘Let’s go!’”.
Have You Fulfilled Your Agro Needs?
Written by Albert J. Petrarca, General Manager, Marketing
As fertilizer season rapidly approaches, The Chemical Company is prepared to provide various crop nutrition products to suit your needs.
Urea
Over 90 percent of the world’s production of urea is used for fertilizer. Fertilizer grade urea usually takes the form of granules, prills, or crystals. Urea is also effective as a de-icing agent due to its non-corrosive properties.
In the current commodities market, urea prices are historically low. Production has increased globally in 2015 with new facilities and expansion projects expected to continue in 2016. The supply is outpacing the demand, which has resulted in low prices.
Urea is available for shipping throughout the continental United States with a one-week lead time for delivery. Prilled Urea can be delivered in 25 Kg. Bags, 1,000 Kg. or 2,000 lb. super sacks, bulk trucks, and bulk railcars.
Dicyandiamide
Dicyandiamide is a nitrogen-based molecule with high reactivity that is used in a variety of applications, including the fertilizer industry. Commonly referred to as “dicy”, the white crystalline compound is the dimer for cyanamide or for cyanoguanidine.
Prices should stay firm through March, with possibilities of ocean freight increases. Prices appear to have reached near bottom, as producers are reporting selling at near break even/loss levels.
The Chemical Company has been an active supplier of Dicyandiamide in the Americas for over 25 years. TCC Dicyandiamide (DICY) is available for shipping throughout the continental United States with one-week lead time. Available in 25kg bags and 1,000kg super sacks.
Got Glycols?
Written by Albert J. Petrarca, General Manager, Marketing
MEG
Ethylene glycol (MEG) has a number of end uses that include polyester fiber and resin products, additive in heating and cooling systems, and widespread use as an antifreeze due to the low freezing point when mixed with water.
Prices for MEG have decreased for January. Soft demand and low inventories should keep prices stable heading into February. Production issues are keeping inventories low in the US, creating some tightness as the spot market is above contracts. The mild winter has kept seasonal demand very soft.
DEG
Diethylene glycol (DEG) is similar in properties to MEG, but DEG has a higher boiling point, viscosity, and specific gravity. DEG is used as a dehydrating agent for natural gas, a raw material for the production of plasticizers and polyester resin, and a widely used solvent.
Price increases in December were followed by decreases in January, resulting from a softer demand for Polyols/UPR.
TEG
Triethylene glycol (TEG), like other glycols, has various applications. Like DEG, TEG is commonly used to dehydrate natural gas and aid in the production of polyester resins. It also serves as a lubricant in textile dying and printing.
TEG demand is soft with mild winter weather. This should improve as winter weather takes its toll, but we shouldn’t see prices reaching historical levels.
TCC glycol products are available for shipping throughout the continental United States with one-week lead time, packed in bulk, totes (IBC tanks) and drums.

What’s happening at TCC?
Mystic Aquarium Seal Release
Kettlebottom was given a special opportunity to film the release of a rescued harbor seal named Peppercorn. The event took place at Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown, Rhode Island. The seal pup was found on the coast of New Hampshire and sent to Mystic Aquarium for rehabilitation. After months of treatment, the seal was ready to be sent back to its natural habitat.
TCC Waterfowl Hunt
The 4th Annual TCC Customer Appreciation Waterfowl Hunt took place last week in LaCygne, Kansas. Six hunters and two cameramen from Kettlebottom targeted Canadian geese and mallards in the corn and soybean fields of Kansas. Check out TCC’s methanol manager, Cory Mullins, getting up close and personal with some feathered friends in this photo below!
