The Chemical Company (TCC) was well represented at the second biennial Eastern Coatings Show (ECS) June 1st–June 4th at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ. TCC President, Robb Roach, attended with Javi Fernandez, AJ Petrarca, and Ray Altenberger.
According to ECS hosts, the Metropolitan New York Coatings Association, the Philadelphia Society for Coatings Technology and the New England Society for Coatings Technology, the show was a tremendous success and exceeded all expectations. A series of 40 technical presentations with question and answer periods were held back to back throughout the four-day event. Most show attendees enthusiastically attended the presentations and the show floor often appeared deserted as a result.
AJ Petrarca commented on the venue and event. “The show floor was in the Taj Mahal, in a room off to the side of the casino. The exhibits and seminars were excellent. Now that the ECS has gained some traction, hopefully, they will consider new venues for future shows,” he said.
Ann Fody, Executive Director of Fody Associates, the event planners, said that registrations exceeded 1,100; almost double the number of anticipated attendees. Approximately 130 exhibitors also doubled the number from the previous show.
The first ECS was held in 2013. The show is staged every other year, leaving the off year for the American Coatings Show. Talks from more than 40 presenters covered topics ranging from Anti-Corrosives and Protective Coatings to Rheology, and Novel Materials and Formulation.
Overall, the feedback from attendees, speakers, and exhibitors was positive. President of Eastern Coatings Federation (ECF), Bob Whiteley, evaluated the show as “one of the outstanding shows in the country at this time and one that will soon become the region’s premier coatings conference and show.
TCC attendees said that the show was well worth the effort and that they were looking forward to attending the next event in 2017.
