Benzoguanamine

TCC’s Benzoguanamine is a member of the triazine family of organic chemical compounds. The white crystalline powder is a weak base that is insoluble in water. It is a 1,3,5-triazine whose molecular formula is C9H9N5. Its empirical formula is CHN.

Benzoguanamine (2,4-Diamino-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine) is used to increase thermoset properties of alkyd, acrylic and formaldehyde resins. It is a raw material for guanamine resins and is used as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals.

Applications

TCC’s Benzoguanamine is a triazine compound that is extensively used in the manufacture of resins.

Specifically, Benzoguanamine is used as a cross-linking agent of alkyd and acrylic resin to increase thermoset properties. It is used as a raw material for guanamine resins. It is a modifier and flexibilizer of formaldehyde resins and an intermediate in the pharmaceutical industry.

Description

TCC’s Benzoguanamine is a white crystalline powder that is a member of the triazine family of organic chemical compounds. Like all triazines it is a weak base that is insoluble in water. Its chemical formula is C9H9N5. Its melting point it 224° to 228° C. Benzoguanamine is stable under ordinary conditions.

A triazine is one of three organic chemicals, isomeric with each other, whose molecular formula is C3H3N3and whose empirical formula is CHN. Triazines are useful as chromophore groups in colorants. Some triazine family compounds are used in the pharmaceutical industry as coupling agents for the synthesis of peptide in solid phase as well as solution and as a side chain of antibiotics.

Benzoguanamine, specifically, 2,4-Diamino-6-phenly-1,3,5-triazine, is used to increase thermoset properties of alkyd, acrylic and formaldehyde resins.
